Note from Shelli - Hands on Haiti team leader

Dear friends,

Well, it is almost time; our team is leaving for Port-Au-Prince, Haiti in 7 days!

As I reflect back on the last six months, I think of you, our friends and family, and those who have been so supportive along the way, and I am given an extra boost of confidence.  To know that YOU believe in us means a lot.  I am so excited.  It has been so neat to see how God has provided - and to watch all of the team members being stretched in their faith!  You have been so good to us, and thanks to all our generous supporters, our trip has been fully funded!!!!  THANK YOU…

Here’s the team (minus a couple people who couldn’t make it):

Let me give you a little glimpse of what we’ll be doing…

Our team will be partnering with a global missions organization called Mission Discovery.  We will be working with an amazing man named Stan Horrell who has been to Haiti multiple times and has felt drawn to help the people there.  We will be staying at New Life Children’s Home, an orphanage in PAP that houses over 100 children - many with severe disabilities.  It is a rescue mission for children on the brink of death, many who have been loved back to health and nurtured in the ways of Jesus.

Here’s a picture of the orphanage entrance sign:

Our work will consist of (but not be limited to):

  • Helping build a new school for children currently living in the ‘tent cities’
  • Leading VBS for nearly 150 children!
  • Building the 2nd-half of an orphanage house with panel-type construction
  • Painting, painting, painting
  • Visiting the homeless & refugees living in tent camps, offering food/water, prayer
  • Loving lots of amazing kids at New Life Children’s Home!

I will definitely send you an update after the trip to let you know how it went, but for now, I will leave you with a very special video of the kids from New Life Children’s Home.  Please watch, you’ll love it!

Blessings,

Shelli

The Hands on Haiti trip is 100% paid!!

Thank you all so much for your contributions, prayer, and support.  The auction was an amazing success, and we have been incredibly blessed as we prepare for this adventure.

Don’t forget the prayer gathering on Friday.  Prayer is the biggest need we have!

Have you bought your tickets for the benefit auction tomorrow?  If you haven’t, fear not!  They are still available, and you can also buy at the door, but doesn’t it feel much better to have your ticket beforehand?

God has been great to us, but we still need more support.  Come and bid high!  It’s a great chance to support our trip and come home with some awesome merchandise.

Note: Due to the unfortunate robbery of the Boys & Girls Club of North Seattle last month, our team has decided to donate 15% of the funds raised back to the club.  All the items we are auctioning were donated, so we hope we can really bless them with some money to reinvest in the teens of our community!
